One Family's Healing Sickness Prevention Protocol

HEALNC members are focused on promoting TRUE HEALTH for themselves and their families. Here is the protocol one of our members uses to promote wellness when illness strikes.

I don’t have time to get sick!  Isn't it the worst feeling - when you feel that scratchiness in the back of your throat or when the inside of your nose starts tickling? THAT is the moment when our family starts our “prevention protocol!”   At our house, we have a few little things we do to PREVENT that sickness from even starting!! 


First make sure you are eating a healthy diet.  Only eat REAL food!  We try to limit processed foods, as will as eliminating any sugar from our diet.


At the time you FIRST feel that scratchiness in your throat, try this:

  • Gargle with a few drops of a protective blend of essential oils mixed in about a teaspoon of water. We use doTERRA’s OnGuard blend oil.  We gargle with this mixture every few hours.  This blend of oil contains orange peel, clove bud, cinnamon leaf, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus leaf and rosemary leaf oils.  Sometimes just gargling every few hours throughout the day is enough to help us feel better. It also tends to numb your throat a little, so you may actually feel immediate relief.

  • Apple cider vinegar (ACV) “shots” -  My husband gets these down a lot easier than I do! We will take about a tablespoon of ACV and mix it with a little water and down the hatch it goes.

  • High Dose Vitamin C - We use Sufficient-C powder.  Take 1-2 scoops daily.  This brand has a wonderful taste and is easy to tolerate, but any buffered Vitamin C would be helpful.

  • Elderberry - We make our own elderberry syrup.  It is very easy to make and the kids love it. You can also buy elderberry products at your nearest drug store or at stores like Whole Foods or Sprouts.

  • Zinc - Even zinc lozenges are helpful!

  • Garlic - If you can't tolerate eating a clove of fresh garlic, you can buy Super Odorless Garlic capsules.  These are a little easier on the palate.

  • Vitamin D3 -  Most people have very low levels of Vit D in their bloodstream and can stand to take extra vitamin D3, especially when they are sick!  We load up on this vitamin when we start to feel sickness coming on.

  • Colloidal Silver 


These are just some of the products that we use to help fight sickness.  We rarely ever get sick, but when we feel sickness coming on, this protocol does the trick most of the time!   I would highly suggest stocking up on these products now, bit by bit, so that the cost does not overwhelm you all at once when you finally do need them!   Take care and stay healthy!
